Shoeless Joe Jackson and Me is a great book written by Dan Gutman. It is a story about a boy named Stosh who can travel back into time using baseball cards. He learns the story about the White Sox scandal with 9 players who got kicked out of baseball for throwing the World Series. He tries to go back into time to the 1920's and stop Shoeless Joe Jackson player for the Chicago White Sox, from throwing the World Series. This book has great detail and really shows how it was in the 1920's. This is a great time travel book, and I would recommend this book to any one that likes a good thrill. You might know some other books written by Dan Gutman, like Honus and Me, Jackie and Me, and Babe and Me . I hope you check out some of the other great books that Dan Gutman has written.

This great science-fiction novel is a real thriller to any reader. It captures you in the timeless adventure of the Black Sox Scandal of 1919. This is a really good book about history about Shoeless Joe Jackson. It is a great childrens book for everybodies age even people who hate baseball will enjoy this great, great book. it has lot's of baseball and action that ins't that violent. it is a great book

This book rocked so much it was the best book i've ever read!!! It was my favorite book of all times. I did a report on this book and got a A. This book tells a lot of facts about the "Black Sox Scandle" It is helpful for trus facts. I would give this ten stars if I could.

"Shoeless Joe & Me" is awesome. You might want to read ten chapters a day, so that on the third day, you'll be at my favorite part of the story. When you start Chapter 1, it's nothing like you would expect. Don't you think it would be eleven chapters or something? Well, you already know it's not eleven because I'm talking about Chapter 21. The book has 24 chapters, but it doesn't seem too long because it is so much fun to read.

Baseball fans will like this book because it is 100% about baseball. I learned that Joe Jackson had the the one and only homer in the whole 1919 World Series. I also learned that after the 1919 World Series, he got thrown out of baseball, but he didn't stop playing. I think he played in a different league, and everyone was noticing him!

I'm going to read...ummmmm..."Jackie and Me" next!

Shoeless Joe and Me is one of my favorite books! The book is about a kid who can Time-Travel by using Baseball Cards. He tries to go back in time to stop the Black Sox Scandal. The Black Sox Scandal was when 8 players on the White Sox were tricked by gamblers into losing the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds on purpose.

Even if you don't like Baseball, I'm sure you will love this book. I loved it SO much that I couldn't take my face away from the book. I recommend this book to ANYONE, as long as they love a good book. It is part of a series, which include:

Haven't you ever wanted to go back in time to prevent something that happened to you? Shoeless Joe Jackson was one of the best baseball players in 1919. His career was destroyed by a gambling scandal. Joe Stoshack was a young boy and he heard about the famous player from a guy named Flip who worked at the baseball card shop he always went to. Flip told Joe that Jackson was not allowed to make the Hall of Fame because of the scandal he was in. Flip gave him Joe Jackson baseball card and the little boy thought to himself what it would be like to go back in time to see what the scandal was all about and even maybe prevent it from happening. He thought if it works in movies then it should work now. The next day Joe Stoshack found himself going back to the 1919's and found Joe Jackson at the stadium. He talked to Joe and asked him to leave the game before it started. He told Joe if he didn't something bad would happen. He told Joe he came back from the future and he knew that if the great Joe Jackson did anything to lose this game, he would never get all the rewards he deserved. He wanted to prevent the "Black Sox Scandal" from happening so Shoeless Joe Jackson could get into the Hall of Fame.
I would rate this book a 5, on a scale of 5, with 5 being the best. Grades 4th and up would love it and its great family story.

At first I didn't think I would like the book.But then as I read it I LOVED it!It's about a kid named Joe Stoshack who travels back to 1919 to try to stop the Black Sox Scandle from taking place and get Shoeless Joe into the Hall Of Fame. But on the way he meets gamblers and suprises.But he did not go back in time just to do that. He is also on a mission to take a picture of his great grandmother,Gladys and his uncle, Wilber.When he goes back to the future,there is a big surprise.If I were able to give this book a rating 1 out of 100 I would give it a 100.THIS BOOK ROCKS!!!!!

This an amzing book with an intresting end. I read this book in the car for 5 days. I read it 2 hours a day. At first I just read 5 to 6 pages a day Monday. But after that I couldn't put it down!! ... My teacher also read us Jackie and Me which I would also rate 5 stars!! I'm now trying to get Honus and Me, Babe and Me, and Mickey and Me. I made myself ONLY read it in the car it gave me something to do in the car. I am 10 and I think this book should be for 7 and a half to 13 year olds. Get this or check it out today!! Some other books you will like if you liked or are intrested in Shoeless Joe and Me are: Fever 1793 for ages 9-15 it is a very good book too! The School Story ages 7-13 this is a REALLY GOOD BOOK by Andrew Clements!!!! And last but not least A Week In The Woods and The Laudry News both by Andrew Clemtents too ( a week in the woods ages 9-14 The Landry News 8-12). I hope you pick up this book and the others I recomended today!! today!! As you can see many others like this book to!! I hope my

I got this book on easter and knew from the start that it was going to be good. If you like adventurous, mysterious, exiting, and sports like books read Shoeless Joe and me. Best of all it's aseries so if you like it you can keep on going!

It was a excellent book! I will read it many more times.

It had a great beginning and middle but I thought the end wasn't to good. I thought it was an overall good story.

It was so fun to read it! I couldn't stop reading this book. It is a long book but it is fun when you read it. There are more books that this author wrote about baseball.

The book I am reviewing is Shoeless Joe & Me written by Dan Gutman. I think this book deserves five stars because Dan Gutman doesn't stretch the book and he does not rush it. This book is about a boy named Joe Stoshack who can travel through time with baseball cards. The problem in this story is that when Joe had lost a game because of a bad call, he complains to the sponsor of his team, Flip Valetini. He says that it wasn't fair, and Flip tells him about the Black Sox sandal and Joe Jackson. Now he wants to fix it. But the rest... you will have to figure out. I would recommend this book to anyone from 3rd to 5th grade that loves fantasy books.

Shoeless Joe was a fun book to read. It was about baseball. He was a good player but did not have power. I liked this book because it was about baseball. He was a player on the White Sox. The story was in Chicago where Shoeless Joe was a famous baseball player.
The kid in the book went back in time. The boy wanted to meet Shoeless Joe, so he went to the store to buy the card. Then he packed his tooth brush and clothes. Then he went to his room. Then he hugged the card and went back to the past. This was the most exciting part of the book.

you'll love this book if you love baseball and wdatch it because it tells you about history and it is exciting.

Haven't you wanted to travel back in time? Well Joe Stoshshack has and he can in the book Shoeless Joe and me. Joe has the power so that whatever year the baseball card he is holding is from is from he can go back to that year (As long as he can get back). The story takes place during the 1919 World Series. The Chicago White sox's versus the Cincinnati red stockings. That was the year when the White sox were paid to lose the World Series. Also known as the Black sox's scandal.

The plot of the story is that Joe wants to stop the White sox's from accepting the money to lose the World Series. Along the way he meets Shoeless Joe and many other Chicago white sox's players. He also meets his great grandma to get a picture with her. The best part in the book is in the beginning when his mom finally says he can go. Joe is so happy, then his mom gives him a twenty-dollar bill, his medicine, a pack of new baseball cards and a camera and he goes.


Along the way he is listening on the fixers of the World Series in a closet when he is caught and dragged into a poolroom. He tells Joe no to escape and he didn't try. He devised a plan to escape. After about one hour he can't wait anymore. He tries to escape and then something happens but you'll have to read the book to find out.


The author's craft is great because he describes every scene so I can visualize the scene and uses awesome character traits. The author also gives excellent details and takes everything you might not know about the story and tells you about it. I really liked the beginning when the author tells you about Joe and what his interests are.


I would give this book a 4 out of 5 because the author is great but the story could have been better. Also this book didn't' t include a very good ending it is kind of a cliffhanger. I would recommend this book to ages 8 and up because 8 year olds like the action and adults like the facts. Even my dad wanted to read Shoeless Joe and me.

Joe Stoshack is a young boy about thirteen and he loves baseball. He plays baseball and collects baseball cards. He collects cards so he can go back into time to see the great baseball players in the past that he can't see in this day. So one day he goes to a baseball shop and he gets a pack of cards and he got Shoeless Joe Jackson's card. Shoeless joe Jackson is a famous baseball player and a great baseball player. He was thrown out of baseball for taking money to through the World Series, but he didn't won't the money he just wanted to play. He still got thrown out because the gangsters snuck the money into his room.
So Joe Stoshack goes back in time to help Shoeless Joe to not take part in the Black Sox Scandal. So he is goes back in time and helps stop him and tries to get him come to the future with Joe but he says he doesn't want to leave his wife and baseball.
Joe Stoshack goes back in time, and lives his regular life with his mom and friends. He still travels back in time to see great baseball players but Shoeless Joe Jackson was his favorite.

Dan Gutman has written an outstanding book based on baseball history. When Joe Shoshack, a young baseball player, hears the story of Joe Jackson and the 1919 Chicago White Sox, he uses his ability to travel back in time to try and clear the name of Shoeless Joe in his alleged role in throwing the World Series. My eleven year old son, not an avid reader by any stretch, loved the book and wants to read more by Mr. Gutman. I highly recommend this book for "kids" of all ages!

Shoeless Joe & me is a book about a kid named Joe Stoshack (Stosh) who goes back in time to 1919 to stop the Black Sox Scandal from ever happening. He meets Shoeless Joe and told him not to take the money from the gamlers, but they gave Joe the money anyway against his will. Even though Joe wasn't a part of the Black Sox Scandal he was kicked out of baseball, so Stosh came back to the 2000s.
I really liked this book because I love baseball and I could relate to this book. I didn't like it because it was a little to unrealistic because of the time travel. My favorite character is Stosh because he is a kid I can relate to about life and baseball.
My favorite part was when it said "Rath dove out of the wau but the ball smacked him right between the shoulder blades." I liked that part because ot meant that the scandal was on and it played a big role in this story. I would tell someone else if they like baseball they would like this book most likely. A question I have is how did he always get where he wanted to be while time traveling. I recommend this book because it is interesting and can surprise you any minute.

Shoeless Joe and Me is a great sports book for kids. A 12 tear old kid use a 1919 baseball card to travel back in time. He goes to the world seris and tries to prevent Joe Jackson from being in the white sox scandle. I can't tell you any more, I think you should read it yourself.

I think this book definitely deserves five stars. To come up with the traveling through time with baseball cards is a great idea. In every book the players teach Stosh a lesson that every kid should learn.

Also in the book they have signs that really do excist. This book is also great from the begging to end, or cover to cover as some people would say. So all in all you can see I loved this book so you should love it too.

Although I have never traveled back in time, I know a character that does. Joe Stoshack in Shoeless Joe and Me. He traveles back in time to fix a Black Sox scandal. This book is awesome. It is totaly the best book I have ever read. The genre of this book is adventures. It fits my category cause I like being adventures. This relates to me cause I like to try in fixing things and it is just like Joe Stoshack. This book made me have many emotions. I laughed ,I got mad, and the only thing I did not do was cry. It was not that kind of emotions. This is some of the many reasons why I love this book so much. Shoeless Joe was about a boy that could travel back in time with a baseball card. This book he went to fix the black sox scandle.The black sox scandle was were people paid black sox players to throw the game away.They wanted the other team to win cause they had bets on them.Joe Stoshack was not able to fix this scandal.So he decides to go back to his normal home and decides where he can go next.Through out the book I wonderd what if he lost the base ball card.I wonder would he be able to get back home.That is just one of the many things I wondered through out the book.Well this is the last I have to say about Shoeless Joe and me but I reconmend this book to every one.I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Shoeless Joe and Me takes place in 1919, when the Chicago White Sox are in the World Series against the Cincinnati Reds. During this, a group of gamblers offer the Sox five thousand dollars each to intentionally lose the World Series. First baseman Chick Gandil is the head of this scandal, and he recruits names to go in the fix, like Eddie Cicotte, but Joe Jackson rejects the offer twice, and goes on to do the best of any players on the teams, he even hit the only homer. But the Sox lose and go straight to a grand jury where eight players are banned for life from the game, including Joe.

But there is hope; a kid named Stosh has an amazing power where he can travel back in time using baseball cards. He travels back to save Joe Jackson from being banned from the game. But will he be able to prevent the greatest scandal in sports history from ever happening?
I recommend this book to anyone who likes baseball and history. I hate to read, but I love to read the stories of Stosh by author Dan Gutman. He knows a plethora of things I never knew about the game that I have learned from these books. So if you want a good book get Shoeless Joe and Me.

This is a really good book. I rated it 4 stars because I am really picky. My friends made me read it but then after that I couldn't put it down! This 'boring' book turn out to be awsome!

I like the book Shoeless Joe And Me because it reminds me of myself. I also like it because it has a lot of great descriptions. This book is very exciting; it always keeps you on your toes. It was really fun reading this book. Now let's get to the book. It starts with a boy who plays baseball and soccer. But, he also travels through time with baseball cards. His name is Joe Stoshack and he's ten. He has a mom and friends and flip he owns the baseball shop. So Joe buys Joe Jackson card and tries to stop the worst thing that's happened in baseball history.
He doesn't want Joe to get banned from baseball. That is why he is going back in time try to stop that from happening. Some things I didn't like about the book is that he doesn't play football because I like football. An example from the book is that Joe says `ah' instead of I.
So, does he stop it from happening or not? Well read the book and find out yourself. I give this book five stars and two thumbs up. I would recommend this book for anyone who likes baseball.

Joey Stoshack loves to collect baseball cards. He especially loves them when he finds out he can travel through time with them. In this book, Joey goes back to 1919 to go see shoeless Joe Jackson. He wants to go tell him about the black sox scandal that is going to happen in a couple of days. While he is there he runs into some trouble with a couple of the gamblers.
